1-Posture

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is perfect for use to improve a Dancer's posture.  The strap should fit over the shoulders and underneath the arms much like a backpack.  The purpose of the strap in this position is to help keep the shoulder blades parallel which is one of the most important aspects of having good posture.  Also, it helps to remind the dancer that the Pectoral muscles should be open and the Manubrium should always be angled upward to help create the proper Frontal Curve while you dance.

2-Left Hand & Left Arm Position

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to help improve the consistency of the Left Hand and Left Arm position of both partners.

The left hand of the Leader should be in the same plane as the front of the body in an upwards position approximately eye level.  Wrap the Dance Strap around the Leader's neck and left wrist and extend the dance strap such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.

The left hand of the Follower should feel a stretch away from the body such that the left elbow is slightly angled from the left shoulder.  Wrap the Dance Strap around the Follower's neck and left elbow and extend the dance strap such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.

3-Right Hand & Right Arm Position

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to help improve the consistency of the Right Hand and Right Arm position of both partners.

The right hand of the Leader should be diagonally forward in the front of the body in a downward position.  Wrap the Dance Strap around the Leader's neck and right wrist and extend the dance strap diagonally forward such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.

The right hand of the Follower should feel a stretch away from the body such that the right hand is approximately eye level. Wrap the Dance Strap around the Follower's neck and right elbow and extend the dance strap such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.

4-Wrist to Wrist

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to help maintain the width and stretch of a dancer's frame while dancing.  Wrap  the dance strap around both wrists and stretch them outward such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.  Maintaining this pull and tension of the strap while practicing will help increase the width of the frame and help maintain the consistency of the frame.

5-Center to Center

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to help maintain the common center between two partners while dancing.  The common center is the point of contact in the front of the bodies.  This point varies with each couple depending on height relationship, arm lengths, and leg lengths.  However, the general point of contact should stay consistent throughout the dance and using the strap will help create a greater awareness of this point of contact between both partners.

6-Neck to Neck

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used around the neck of both partners in order to help maintain the depth and spacial awareness between the two heads.  This is especially crucial when executing rotating and turning figures where the heads of both partners should travel around each other as if in the path of an orbit.  The two necks should be in opposing directions such that there is a slight stretch and tension of the strap.  This stretch and tension of the strap around the necks helps the dancers feel the coordination of the two spines and, therefore, helps to maintain the depth and space of the frame.

7-Elbow to Elbow

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to maintain the relative positions of the Leader's left elbow and the Follower's right elbow.  These two elbows should create an equilateral triangle with the two wrists and should sit at an approximately 45 degree angle with each other.  In order to maintain the relative position of the elbows the two elbows should feel a stretch away from each other such that there is a slight pull and tension of the strap.  This pull and tension will help dancers feel the relative energies of the muscles in order to maintain this portion of the frames.

8-Left Side to Right Hand

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can help to maintain the support of the left side towards the partner.  The left side should always be slightly in front of the right side, while maintaining a consistent square hip line, and while maintaining the relative position of the elbows.  This left side leading is because both partners stand to the right of each other and, therefore, must have additional support from the left side.  Wrap the strap around the partner's left side, underneath the left arm, and around the right wrist such that there is a diagonally forward stretch of the strap.  The partner should be able to fit comfortably inside the strap while dancing in this position.

9-Tango Knees

Master Dance Inc Dance Strap can be used to help acquire the correct feel of Tango. Tango is a dance generally characterized by a staccato action. This action comes from the relationship of the feet and the knees. There should always be a sense of a relationship and connection between the two knees such that they feel slightly veered in towards each other so as to limit body flight. Wrap the strap around the knees so that when the Tango is danced there is a sense of the relationship of one knee towards the other.

10-Promenade Position

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is a great way for two partners to sense the relative relationship of the two bodies while traveling through Promenade. Promenade is a general position in which the two Partners travel and move in the same direction. Placing the strap along both partner's Right Shoulders will help both partners maintain awareness of the relative Leftward curves of the spine even when moving through Promenade position. In general, both partners should have a Leftward curve of their spine in relationship to each other to contribute to the three dimensional shape of the bodies.

11-Wing Position

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is a great way to help increase awareness of the relative positions of the two bodies especially in a challenging position such as Wing position. The Wing position is a relationship between the two partners such that the legs and feet are to the left of each partner. It is very common that when moving to Wing position the upper portion of the bodies lose their relative positions and, therefore, lose the spatial awareness between the two partners. The strap helps to increase both partner's awareness of their relative position in relationship to one another when dancing the Wing.

12-Same Foot Lunge

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is a great way to help increase awareness of the relative positions of the two bodies in a Same Foot Lunge position. The Same Foot Lunge position is a position where the hips between two partners are perpendicular to each other, much like Promenade position, but with one partner's Right hip outside of the other partner's Left hip.   Having the strap between the two right shoulders of both partners will help maintain and increase the relative curves of the body such that the Same Foot Lunge position is comfortably executed.  The strap helps to increase both partner's awareness of their relative position in relationship to one another.

13-Contra Check

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is a great way to increase the awareness of the relative position of the two bodies when dancing a Contra Check. Because the Contra Check is a reverse figure, it is very easy for both partners to cross centers and, therefore, lose the right side to right side position. Having the strap between the two right shoulders of the partners helps to maintain this relative position while dancing the Contra Check.

14-Oversway

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is helpful in dancing line figures such as the Oversway. The Oversway is a line figure characterized predominantly by having more sway, which is an inclination of the body away from the moving foot or towards the inside of the turn.  In the case of the Oversway, it is characterized by a broken sway of the upper portion of the body towards the right foot of one partner, left foot of the other partner. Having the strap between the two right shoulders of the partners helps to maintain the relative position of the two partners while dancing this increased sway action.

15-Throwaway Oversway

The Master Dance Inc Dance Strap is helpful in dancing line figures such as the Throwaway Oversway. The Throwaway Oversway is a line figure much like the Oversway but it includes the element of rotation on the standing foot which allows the partner's left foot to be "thrown away." This element of rotation in a reverse direction generally leads to an over rotation of the bodies in relationship to each other and, therefore, both bodies crossing centers. Having the strap on the right shoulders of both partners helps to feel the relative positions of each of the two bodies as the Throwaway Oversway is being danced.
